Dear ASCLD Colleagues,
Plastic is the new toilet paper.
A recent NPR podcast discusses something that many of our laboratories have known for quite a while – the pandemic has caused a shortage in consumables such as pipette tips and swabs that is impacting us.
The ASCLD Board has received emails from members asking for guidance and support in this dilemma and it has been a topic of discussion at committee meetings as well. I invite you all to log into the ASCLD Forum on our Member’s Site and share your questions, concerns, and suggestions about this and other topics.
Have a terrific week!
Be well,
Erin

The Division of Forensic Sciences in Wisconsin is requesting your assistance!
The crime laboratories in Wisconsin have continued to balance caseload, turnaround times and effective case management. Similar to other crime laboratories, Wisconsin has strived to meet the demands via the acquisition of positions, implementation of submission guidelines and efficient process improvements/workflows. We are asking that you participate in a short survey that is acute and specific in subject matter: processing of felon in possession cases. Our goal is to gather data from our crime lab partners in order to evaluate our own submission guidelines and approach. We appreciate your insight and assistance. Please see our link to our survey here.
