I am very excited to announce the official opening of the website for our 49th Annual ASCLD Symposium, which will be held in Reno, NV from April 24 – 28, 2022. The conference link is: and this year’s symposium focuses on strategically guiding change. Our planning committee chaired by President-Elect Jen Naugle has already been very busy working on a program which will provide current and innovative content and networking opportunities for you to improve your forensic operation. Registration will open November 30, 2021. Pricing is listed on the website now so you can plan now. The room rate that the Peppermill Resort will be $114/night plus taxes and fees. The preliminary agenda along with a page dedicated to the special events are also available on the site now. We encourage you to submit and abstract for a workshop or a 30 minute plenary session presentation. The submission deadline is October 15th which is this week! In keeping with our traditional format, the first two days will provide half and full day workshops on a variety of topics related to “Facing the Challenge: Mission Possible!” The proposed themes that support the topic of strategically guiding change include:

  • A Good Defense is a Good Offense - Marketing Your Laboratory
  • Building More Effective Change Leaders (Communication, Emotional Intelligence, Empathy, and/or Influencing Skills)
  • Change Management and Leadership
  • Creating Buy-In for Effective Change
  • Cultivating Relationships to Promote Change
  • Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives
  • Large Project Planning For Forensic Science Labs (Buildings, LIMS Systems, New Disciplines, etc.)
  • Navigating Cultural Change
  • Navigating Misdirection/Misinformation from Stakeholders
  • Post-Pandemic Changes (Remote Workplace, Leading in a Virtual Platform, Virtual Tools)
  • Strategic Transformational Leadership
  • Wellness Initiatives
