Dear ASCLD Colleagues,
What a great week we just had celebrating Forensic Science! I enjoyed seeing all of the social media posts of the food, fun, and fellowship as we shared in recognizing the work we do. Thank you for sharing. When you look at all of the career fields in the world today, we are a small group but we are strong due to our collaboration and alliances. Stand together and take a bow. You have each earned it. We have earned it.
I would also like to take the time to highlight an opportunity for you to take advantage of a training opportunity from two of our peer forensic organizations. AAFS and ICITAP have joined together to put on the first Global Collaboration of Forensic Scientists (GC-FS) Webex webinars at no cost to you. I took a bit of information from their webpage and pasted it here to share with you:
The Global Collaboration of Forensic Scientists (GCFS) vision is:
- Dedicated to the production and distribution of scientific research and educational lectures to benefit forensic science and technology as well as society internationally, and
- Endeavors to be a worldwide resource for expert assistance, advancing justice for all.
The first dates are October 5th and November 10th with more dates and topics already posted for 2022. Their vision and their educational offerings are something to benefit all of us and make the global forensic community more accessible to all. Look for their link below to get more information and bookmark it for future free learning opportunities for both you and your staff.
Autumn is upon us. The older I get, the faster time seems to go. I can’t believe it is almost October. Self-care was a continuous message from Past-President, Erin Forry. Take some time for yourself. Go to a ballgame, take a hike and enjoy the changing foliage, read a book… take time for you.
