ASCP ANNUAL MEETING CANCELLATION STATEMENT

American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology (ASCP) Statement on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In response to the rapidly changing circumstances associated with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the ASCP Board of Directors, 2020 Steering Committee, and 2020 Program Committee have made the decision to cancel the ASCP Annual Meeting in-p erson meeting scheduled to take place May 26 - 29, 2020 in Miami Beach, Florida. Leadership is excited to offer a portion of our 2020 Annual Meeting as a live internet course!

In coming to this decision, ASCP leadership carefully weighed the risks to attendees and their families, colleagues, and patients. ASCP has concerns about the risk to healthcare systems given the medical profile of ASCP attendees and the consequences of potentially displacing healthcare workers during a critical time. Considering all the information available at the moment, ASCP leadership believes that cancelling the in-person conference is the responsible action to take. The health and safety of members, attendees, and the community is its top priority.

Please know this has been an incredibly difficult decision to make for ASCP leadership. ASCP is a not-for-profit organization that depends heavily on its meetings to sustain its financial well-being. Cancelling the in-person Annual Meeting has consequences not just for attendees and presenters but for the very existence of ASCP as a scientific society. Still, ASCP remains committed to its mission to advance the science and practice of clinical psychopharmacology.

Dear ASCP Members and ASCP Annual Meeting Attendees,

The ASCP Board of Directors, Steering Committee, Program Committee and Executive Office have been looking forward to another successful Annual Meeting in Miami Beach, Florida. As ASCP is committed to ensuring the safety of you, your families, and colleagues during this novel coronavirus pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the live, in-person meeting. However, we will move to a virtual platform in an effort to continue to provide education on new and novel developments in psychopharmacology.

You will receive further communications from us about the practical aspects of the virtual conference in the coming weeks. We want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to develop innovative ways to provide education to you in the midst of the Coronavirus COVID-19 epidemic.

Next Steps

The ASCP Executive Office is working closely with ASCP leadership to appropriately respond to questions regarding the virtual meeting, refunds and other administrative aspects that need to be considered. We recognize all the hard work that so many have put into preparing for the ASCP Annual Meeting and we are exploring our virtual options.
