Congratulations to ASFS Spelling Bee champion Gus Spadola Jolley!
Congratulations to ASFS Spelling Bee champion Gus Spadola Jolley who recently qualified for the next level of the Scripps national spelling bee competition.
After Gus won our schoolwide competition at ASFS in January, he took an online test with 50 questions. His score on that test qualified him to move on to the Region Two Spelling Bee which will take place on March 18th.
Good luck, Gus, on the next level of competition. All of us at ASFS are proud of you!

ASFS Kidsgiving: Support Read Early and Daily! Donate to the KidsGiving New Baby Book Drive
READ is thrilled to be working with KidsGiving to introduce students and their families to the work READ is doing to fight the reading inequities among our youngest and most vulnerable. How you can help:
- As part of our work together, KidsGiving families have the opportunity to donate books for our Baby Book Bag that we give to prenatal families receiving care at VHC Outpatient Clinic.
-
If you wish to donate a book, please click here to choose from the five book selections. These titles have been carefully curated for the needs of our families; each book comes with bilingual tips.
- In the notes at checkout, please indicate that your school is ASFS.
- Donate anytime through Tuesday, March 7th. Thank you for your support!
| All ASFS students are encouraged to sign up for KidsGiving at any time. There is no commitment, and you will receive monthly emails with opportunities to LEARN, VOLUNTEER, and DONATE to local Arlington nonprofits throughout the year. Contact Dena Porter with any questions. Thank you! | |
We are Greener now!
ASFS students and families are noticing a totally refreshed front garden and courtyard, ready for Spring! We are so grateful to Greener Landscaping Services for donating their time and services to help maintain our grounds and prepare for the upcoming season.
If you have any lawn maintenance, gardening, or landscaping needs, please contact Greener (571.251.1465 / greenerlawnva@gmail.com) and say that you're an ASFS parent, teacher, staff member, or affiliate. It's a great way to show your thanks.
