What's new at ASHI?

ASHI Standards Now in MediaLab!

Maintaining ASHI accreditation requires sustained rigor across personnel, proficiency testing, quality systems, and documentation - not just on inspection day. We are encouraged to see MediaLab bring the ASHI Standards directly into InspectionProof, where laboratories can connect their evidence to the standards in real time and stay continuously ready for review. The ASHI Standards will be available in MS Excel format in this program.

ASHI Standards are now available in InspectionProof for ASHI-accredited MediaLab clients. The use of InspectionProof is not required for ASHI accreditation. MediaLab's team is ready to provide guidance and support to ensure optimal use of the new features. To learn more, please visit Vastian.com.

Laboratory Professional Recruitment Initiative Taskforce Update

  • Two surveys went out earlier this year; one on retention in the HLA laboratory and another about compensation alignment. Both received excellent feedback and responses. There will be two separate posters at the 2026 ASHI 52nd Annual Meeting to present the data and an ASCP collaboration is underway to develop a paper and a resource that you can bring to your leadership when advocating for fair compensation.
  • The taskforce is working on recruitment material to be used for multiple levels (middle school, high school, undergraduate, post graduate levels). They will be working in line with other ASHI committees to collaborate on this project.
  • ASHI volunteers welcomed 15 students from Medical Laboratory Science programs local to Austin, TX at this year's ASHI Educational Workshop for Laboratory Professional's Day. Designed for students who are still exploring laboratory career paths and specialty areas, the program introduced participants to transplant histocompatibility testing as a rewarding career option.
