HLA Matching in the PTCy Era: Revisting Our Knowledge

Thursday, November 21 at 8:00 AM ET

ASHI Speaks Your Language webinar (in English)

Hosted by the International Committee

Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) mismatching can reduce survival of patients with blood cancer after hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). How recent advances in HCT practice, in particular graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis, influence HLA risk associations is unknown. This webinar will discuss the background, results and context of a recent study by the Cellular Therapy and Immunobiology Working Party of the EBMT investigating the role of HLA mismatching in contemporary unrelated HCT, in particular under post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PTCy)–based GVHD prophylaxis.

Learning Objectives for the Webinar:

  • To assess the effect of HLA mismatching on patient survival in contemporary HCT.
  • To assess the clinical relevance of established and novel functional models of HLA mismatch assessment inunrelated HCT.
  • To discuss the relevance of PTCy GvHD prophylaxis and how it impacts HCT outcome and the role of HLA mismatching in current clinical practice.
