PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

What an incredible month October was! From our 50th Anniversary Celebration and Board Installation in Las Vegas to our Roadshow events in Fresno, Sacramento, and Reno, it was inspiring to see our design community come together in such a powerful way. Each event reminded us why ASID continues to thrive after 50 years—because of you, our passionate members and dedicated partners.

As we move into the holiday season, let’s carry that energy forward—supporting one another, sharing ideas, and continuing to elevate the design profession across our region.

ASID Releases 2025 State of Interior Design Report

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has officially released the 2025 State of Interior Design report—an in-depth look at the profession at this milestone moment in ASID’s 50-year history. Now in its third year, the report is part of ASID’s annual Outlook series and is generously sponsored by Sherwin-Williams.

Covering everything from compensation and credentials to employment trends and small business performance, the report offers valuable insight for interior designers navigating today’s evolving marketplace.

“The insights in the State of Interior Design report help designers strengthen their practice today while preparing them to shape a stronger profession for tomorrow.”
Khoi Vo, CEO, ASID

Highlights from the 2025 Report:

  • Employment: 69,580 interior designers are currently employed, with an additional 56,449 self-employed—a 3.4% increase over the past year.
  • Credentials: CIDQ reports 17,447 active certificate holders as of October 2024, with new certifications up 14.3% year-over-year.
  • Compensation: The average interior designer salary is $71,430, reflecting a 2.1% increase from 2023.
  • Firms: U.S. interior design firms are projected to reach 17,500 in 2025.
  • Payroll & Small Business: Payroll for design services is projected at $2.23 billion, with small businesses contributing nearly half of payroll and 75% of industry sales.
  • State Sales: California, Florida, New York, Texas, and Illinois account for over $15.8 billion in projected sales.
  • Trends: Demand for goods remains strong, but service growth is expected to slow in 2026 due to rising construction and renovation costs.

ROADSHOW RECAP: A CELEBRATION OF DESIGN AND CONNECTION

What a week! Our ASID California Central | Nevada Chapter wrapped up a whirlwind Roadshow tour filled with inspiration, education, and community.

We kicked things off in Las Vegas on October 1 with our 2025–2026 Board Installation, hosted at Sotheby’s International Realty. It was a wonderful evening celebrating leadership, legacy, and the exciting year ahead.

From there, the road led north—first to Cal State University Fresno, where we had the honor of speaking with design students about ASID’s mission and the future of our industry. Their energy and curiosity reminded us all why mentorship matters.

That same evening, Fashion Furniture welcomed us to their beautiful Fresno showroom for a lively ASID Roadshow event, complete with food, drinks, and an incredible dose of Central Valley hospitality.

Next stop: Cosentino Sacramento, where members and industry partners gathered for another night of connection, creativity, and conversation surrounded by stunning surfaces and design inspiration.

And finally, the tour concluded in style at Williams Sonoma at The Summit Reno, where the 50th Anniversary Roadshow officially came to a close. Members enjoyed a morning of networking, design dialogue, and—of course—a few culinary delights.

From Fresno to Reno, the 2025 Roadshow was a reminder of the strength and spirit of our ASID community. Thank you to all who joined us on this unforgettable journey!
