ASID MN Volunteer Spotlight

The ASID MN Board would like to announce a new Volunteer Spotlight we will be voting on and giving out periodically to recognize and highlight the volunteers in our organization that have raised the level of service and made a significant impact in our chapter. We recognize how challenging it can be to volunteer during these unprecedented times and would like to acknowledge individuals for their outstanding contributions to our organization.

Our ASID MN President, Christine Happel, announces the first recipient, Drew Gray. @drewgrayphoto

"He would never expect the recognition, nor the praise, but would be humbled in receiving it. This is just the type of person he is, and I have a deep professional respect for him. With the exit of an outstanding Communications Director last fall, as well as our PR Chair stepping out, it left a huge void for our PR Committee with no one to run it and no members. Drew stepped up and took on the role of Communications Director solely. While he has managed to find several volunteers to assist, the brunt of working with all the committees, often attending all their meetings, coordinating our PR with Russell Herder, and working with sponsorship

to ensure we are providing the amount of social media posts for our Sponsors, are just a few of the things he has been accomplishing. This is a full-time job, with him still trying to maintain his personal career. He has been an asset that continues to step up. I will receive emails with ideas about how things could run better, how we can be better, and how we raise the bar to ensure our members, IP members, and sponsors can be recognized. His selflessness is admirable and has made a positive impact on our continuing growth.

Drew....thank you for all you do, and know your peers appreciate all your efforts and I am so happy for you to be the first recipient of the spotlight you wanted to give to recognize others.”

Joyous Maximalism:

Curating Expressive Interiors Through Art and Design

Wednesday, July 20, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

NewStudio Gallery

2303 Wycliff Street,

Saint Paul, MN, 55114

A Free Event for Interior Designers in conjunction with the exhibition,

Cey Adams: ETCetera, 40 Years of Art and Design

Joyous Maximalism is the interior design trend for 2022. Learn how designers curate art and objects to create interiors that reflect their client’s story and personality, style and taste. Because, ultimately, Joyous Maximalism is about full freedom of expression.

Join Katelyn Bloomquist (Editor, Midwest Home), Gladys Tay (Designer, Vintage Dealer), Thomas Hill (Thomas I. Hill Interiors), and Jernell Rochelle McLane (5enses Design) for a lively discussion on Joyous Maximalism and how to bring this vibrant style to life for your residential clients.

Walk through NewStudio Gallery’s current exhibition, Cey Adams: ETCetera, 40 Years of Art and Design, a nostalgic, pop-art excursion through the legendary graffiti, graphic, and fine artist’s love of brands. Adams, founding creative director of Def Jam Recordings, is known as the artist who defined the visual culture of American hip-hop. He’s exhibited his fine art at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and MoCA Los Angeles. His work is part of the permanent collection at The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.

All art available for purchase. Beverages and snacks served. We encourage, but don’t require, masks.
