You're invited to an exclusive AIA-approved Continuing Education course: Beyond Visibility: How Thoughtful Illumination in Residential Spaces Elevates Design and Enhances Well-Being.
We all know that beautiful interior design can be completely transformed—for better or worse—by how it's lit. This session is all about moving past basic visibility and standard grid lighting to discover how intentional, design-led illumination can truly honor the spaces we create.
Guest Speaker
Abigail Sorensen brings over twenty years of lighting experience to Visual Comfort & Co., where she champions investment in lighting and controls as essential to how homes feel. As a lead designer for Visual Comfort’s immersive Light Labs nationwide, she shaped the storytelling, lighting design, and controls that help homeowners and designers experience the value of great lighting in person.

Built to Last: Classicism, Modernism, and the Beauty of Federal Architecture
Wednesday, October 21, 2026 | 5:00–8:00 p.m. | The Avalon, St. Paul
A panel of national and local leaders in classical architecture will gather in St. Paul this fall to explore classicism's enduring role in America's historic federal and civic buildings — presented by the Chicago-Midwest Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art’s Minnesota Subcommittee.
While the panel's lens is architectural, its themes speak directly to interior designers: the classical proportion, detailing, and craftsmanship principles shaping these federal and civic buildings are the same foundations that inform historically inspired interiors, period renovations, and timeless residential design.
The evening includes a cocktail reception and audience Q&A, with a livestream option for those joining remotely.
