Can you believe Spring is almost upon us! We look forward to seeing your smiling faces at the CEU events in March!
Recently, the Board was sad to see our sitting At-Large Director step down from the position. We are, however, very pleased to announce that we unanimously voted to have Elaine Roy of American Home Furniture step into the position. Welcome to the Board, Elaine! We look forward to having you join our efforts to build a strong, supportive foundation for our membership.
On another note, I need to call the ASID New Mexico membership to action. You should have recently received an email with a letter signed by both myself, and Jill Brey, the President of IIDA Southwest Chapter (letter below). We are asking that you familiarize yourself with Senate Bill 358 regarding the ability of an Interior Designer in the State of New Mexico to submit plans to obtain a building permit for the interior design portion of a project. If you have not received the email, you can click on this hyperlink, Support Interior Designers, to read about this cause and to sign the petition. Only we can stand up for ourselves on this matter, so I urge you to learn about this bill that will affect our profession.
The Board and I are very excited about how things are progressing on our planning for the New MexiCon Designer Trade Show! The partnership with NKBA is proving to be a wonderful relationship and the committee is hard at work. You can go to the website www.newmexicontradeshow.com and register for attendance to the event or for sponsorship. Sign up now and take advantage of the CEU opportunities and come meet all of our participating vendors on June 2!
Happy Almost Spring! The Board and I are always available to you all if we can help you in your professional endeavors.
