Happy Summer! In this issue, we have a captioned pre-recorded sermon by Rav Ellen Roth in ASL. We also feature "Shalom Aleichem" by Rochesterian Jackie Pransky, and a set of previously recorded and unedited ASL Shabbat Zoom videos for you to enjoy!

Shalom Aleichem is a traditional song sung by Jews every Friday night before the Shabbat meal. It signals the start of Shabbat by welcoming the angels who accompany us as we arrive home from synagogue on the eve of Shabbat.

Captioning of the pre-recorded video of Rav Ellen Roth's sermon was done by Caption Anywhere.

Shabbat shalom!

Rabbi Ellen Roth presents her sermon on "Ritual Laws" which came from the Chukat Parsha. Rabbi Ellen Roth enjoys teaching Kabbalah and other Jewish related topics.

ASL Shabbat lay leader Jackie Pransky signed the "Shalom Aleichem" song during the March 2021 ASL Shabbat service which was led by the Rochester, New York Jewish Deaf Community.

SUPPORT UNITY THROUGH ASC

texture-graphic-community.jpg

There's a Jewish proverb, "If charity cost nothing, the world would be full of philanthropists."

For the month of July, we thank Felece Steele for her kind donation.

We also thank our supporters who have previously donated to keep the Jewish Deaf community spirit alive. Funds have allowed us to provide captioning for pre-recorded sermons by renowned Deaf Rabbis, purchase and use a software to distribute ASL Shabbat Coalition event announcements, host programs that are recorded on Zoom, and hire voice interpreters. We also give special thanks to the United Jewish Appeal (UJA) Federation-NY for partially funding some of the expenses associated with this program.

These popular and much loved programs, which connect us as an online Jewish spiritual community, need your support!

Give as much as you are able to keep us all together online regardless of where we live. The best part of our virtual ASL Shabbat services is the "sense of belonging" it gives to our community. The services are led by Deaf leaders who speak our language, American Sign Language. Services are captioned and voice interpreted for an inclusive experience.

We will list our August donors names as our token of appreciation and gratitude in the next issue. To be listed, donations must be made by Sunday, August 7th.

To donate, visit this page: https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/JDRC. Select ASL Shabbat Coalition when you make this donation.
