Making A Photographer: The Early Work of Ansel Adams with Dr. Rebecca A. Senf

Join us as we team up with CPAC (Colorado Photographic Arts Center) for December’s PhotoVox with speaker Dr. Rebecca A. Senf as she discusses her new book, Making a Photographer: The Early Work of Ansel Adams. Gain access to an unprecedented and eye-opening examination of the early career of one of America’s most celebrated photographers.

ASMP Member Feature: Leonard Anderson

Leonard Anderson is a self-taught professional photographer originally from Pennsylvania. He used to watch his uncle develop black & white film at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on Saturdays. His interest piqued during his travels in Asia and Europe while stationed in Germany in the early 90s and 2000s. Shooting seriously since 2000, he established Leonard Anderson Photography, LLC in 2014 and spent a few years shooting a little bit of everything while he tried to figure out his niche. He was fortunate to meet some amazing local photographers/mentors to help him hone his skills. Leonard attended workshops and annual photography conferences, learning from some of the best photographers in the fashion and headshot industry, Sal Cincotta and Peter Hurley. In 2017, he decided these were the two genres he would focus on. He is a proud member of Peter Hurley’s Headshot Crew.

Each year he does military portrait sessions for the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps Military Ball. Throughout the year, he provides free headshots to transitioning military members as his way of giving back to his local community. Leonard has a gift that allows him to capture images of people that showcase their true beauty. Find him on instagram @leonardandersonphoto.

At our December 7, Brews & Business, we’ll have our friends from COPVA (Colorado Professional Videographers Association) talking about Breaking Into Video as a Still Photographer.

Erica Jaffe is a corporate videographer and video editor in the Denver area. She has over 14 years of experience working on a wide variety of projects, including corporate videos, online videos, broadcast commercials, feature stories, promotional videos and live video productions. She holds a BA degree from Hastings College in Broadcast Journalism as well as a BA in Business Administration. Erica's passion is storytelling and bringing your story to life through the use of video. She uses the latest technology to make sure your videos are of the highest quality.

Robert Butcher holds degrees and certificates in Graphic Design, Video Production, Web Design, Legal Video, Trial Presentation and is a Part 107 UAV Drone Pilot. An admitted serial student, he continues to enrich his knowledge through online education and certificate education courses, continually striving to deliver his clients the best. Robert, originally form Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a long time Colorado transplant. Happily married to the lovely Julie Butcher, he is a proud father of 4 children and 3 grandchildren. Outside of the workplace he finds his joy spending time with his family in the outdoors, hiking, skiing, paddle boarding and fishing.

ASMP Colorado Student Scholarship Application

ASMP Colorado is taking applications for our new student scholarship program that supports BIPOC and LGBTQ+ students, paving the way for a successful career in photography and the arts. Four scholarships will be awarded. Each will cover the cost of a one-year student membership to ASMP. We'd like to thank Rick Souders of Souders Studios and Larry Goodwin of Denverphotoscapes for their generous donations to make this possible. Best of ASMP 2020 Photo Contest

BEST of ASMP is a members-only contest and it is designed to showcase the important work of ASMP members from photos/videos taken between December 1, 2019 and December 31, 2020. Non-members can join ASMP to participate in the contest. Last year ASMP CO had two winners, Steven Begleiter and Howard Paul, with the image featured here. We have some great prizes this year. Be sure to enter today.

The CASE Act Needs you Now!
