Time: 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Cost: Free
Meeting ID: 825 5225 8218
More info here: Randy Brown

Randy Brown is a Colorado-based documentary photographer working on projects that address socio/cultural issues. His 35-year photography career has offered opportunities to work with diverse clients, primarily through editorial and academic platforms. Examples include two Indonesia-based projects, Sumatra and Borneo, with the University of Denver Department of Anthropology. Another project with organizations helping veterans with PTSD and addiction issues involved rafting trips in the Colorado River and Cataract Canyon.

Brown is now photographing and writing a project addressing a decade-long drought, the exportation of critical water resources and their existential threat to the agricultural community in the San Luis Valley in south-central Colorado

“In The Middle of Everywhere” is a documentary project giving voice to families and individuals facing the external threat of private exportation of scarce water resources amid a multi-year drought.

This part of the larger project focuses on water transfers to the highly developed Colorado Front Range from the state’s San Luis Valley by water developers working through the Colorado Water Court.

The images point at the complexities, history, spirituality, ruggedness and dedication to preserving an important way of life for all residents of the San Luis Valley of Colorado.

The project's photographs document those on the front lines of preserving water resources – families and individuals, ranchers and farmers – as well as those whose lives the agriculture industry affects.

Cost: Free to $10

Congratulations to members John Shelton and Ron Johnson for their work in the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center Winter Exhibit.

Photo Pensato is a collective of photographers with varied styles and techniques, inspired to create images that reflect their unique and personal perspectives. Photo Pensato members come from decades of experience across a diverse field of photographic output. They now focus on fine-art imagery. Their journey is embodied in “Pensato," an Italian term for a musical note so exquisite it can be neither played nor heard.

"There appears to be no comparable expression as applied to photography," said Ron Johnson, an artist featured in the show. "Yet we persist in our quest to create images that capture that exquisite 'note,' elusive spirit and the timeless power of this medium."
