Photo Assistant Workshop Postponed

Due to COVID the Photo Assistant Workshop will be postponed. We're hoping to host this event in person in the spring to help you become familiar with all facets of photo assisting. Look for details on our website as they become available.

ASMP Member Feature: Dave Rosberg

Dave started working in TV production 40 years ago, so video has been his home for a long time. About 15 years ago he added still photography as part of his job as an in-house producer for a large media corporation. He’s been a freelancer for five years now, doing product and headshot photography for tech companies and individuals.

He continues to do plenty of corporate video, including training and reference, corporate communications, marketing, and HR videos. Video is his bread and butter, but several companies that need video also need still images. Dave doesn’t see himself as a photographer or videographer or video producer. He sees himself as a project manager who leverages his experience with large organizations taking their video and still needs from an idea to finished media, communicating with them on a corporate business level they can understand.

ASMP CO Mask Policy for In-Person Events

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows the community transmission is high in Denver County and says everyone should wear a mask in public indoor settings. In general, you do not need to wear a mask in outdoor settings. However, in areas with high numbers of COVID-19 cases, consider wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings and for activities with close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated.

Denver's public health order says unvaccinated Denverites are still strongly encouraged to wear a face covering in indoor public settings, practice social distancing, avoid large crowds, and get vaccinated as soon as possible.

ASMP Colorado will follow the strictest of guidelines along with any additional local and venue guidelines for all in-person events. We thank you for your cooperation.

Shooting On Location

This is the first of a series of articles ASMP Colorado is posting here and on our website to support photographers on their quest for a successful photography business. As a commercial and personal-branding photographer, I almost always work on location. With my client, we will create anywhere from three to eight looks in different settings throughout a day. To ensure success, I follow these guidelines:

1. Meeting with a client — This meeting might be virtual or in person. I prefer virtual planning meetings, as they save time for everyone involved. The goal of these meetings is to discuss a client’s wants and needs. Learning about your client’s profession or business and the purpose for the pictures helps you create relevant images.

2. Location scouting — If you do not already have a list of “my favorite shooting locations'' you should start one immediately. Such a list will come in handy when...
