ASNR Young Professionals Newsletter Spring 2022
Pearls from the Pros -- Christopher Whitlow, MD, PhD, MHA

In the latest installment of “Pearls from the Pros,” Paul Bunch, MD, interviews Dr. Christopher Whitlow, the I. Meschan Distinguished Professor of Radiology with Tenure and Enterprise Chair of the Department of Radiology at Atrium Health/Wake Forest School of Medicine.

As Dr. Whitlow shares: "I have written far more grants that have not been funded than grants that have been funded. So, it’s worth understanding that failure is almost expected – if you want to call it failure. I’m not sure I would. Writing a grant proposal that isn’t funded does not mean that you’re a failure. It just means that it wasn’t funded this time around, that you learned something through the process, and that you’ve gotten feedback on the proposal that will help you revise and resubmit in the future."
