European Central Bank has unveil improved €100 and €200 at the ECB on 17 September 2018 completing its new series of banknote EUROPA . Schreiner innovation towards Pharma Anti-Counterfeiting
Schreiner MediPharm has launched new digital counterfeiting detection solution, BitSecure Mobile , to restrict illegal trade in counterfeit medicines. The new BitSecure Mobile digital counterfeiting detection solution is said to meet the requirements of the EU Directive 2011/62/EU, which will be effective 9 February 2019. Recently, the Schreiner has also launched inconspicuous Covert-Hologram Seal, Flexi-cap and LumiSecure security feature a s anti-counterfeiting feature. The multifunctional Covert-Hologram Seal makes it particularly difficult for counterfeiters to circulate their illegal medicines unnoticed. The innovative closure seal is transparent, inconspicuous and appears like a simple packaging seal. But when the seal is opened for the first time the initially invisible effect becomes visible: a hologram emerges that shows various inscriptions and design elements in different colors depending on the viewing angle. The decisive security feature here is the irreversible holographic effect because the original, completely transparent condition of the seal cannot be restored. Manufacturers, suppliers and consumers can thus tell at first glance whether the packaging was previously opened or if they are holding an originally packaged medicine in their hands.
Roorkee emerging as hub of fake medicines in North India
For many, Roorkee is a place synonymous with the Indian Institute of Technology and other centres of learning, but of late, the town and adjoining areas have also emerged as a hub of the illegal trade of duplicate medicines which are supplied across most of north India. Recently, the extent to which the spurious drugs-manufacturing business in the area has grown, was brought home when three big factories in Roorkee and adjoining Bhagwanpur involved in making spurious drugs were busted in raids conducted by the drug control department along with police teams of Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi and UP. The roots of the fake drug business in the area can be traced to Uttarakhand’s formation in 2000 when under the Centre's tax holiday schemes, many top pharma companies established their units in Roorkee, Bhagwanpur and the Sidcul area of Haridwar. The number of such factories as per estimates has now touched around 90.
Cops pulled up for passing off printer as counterfeiting machine
The Bombay High Court (HC) has pulled up Hinjawadi police for booking two brothers after accusing them of allegedly printing and circulating counterfeit notes with ‘machinery and an instrument’ seized from their home. However, while releasing one of the brothers on bail, the HC ruled that the confiscated machine was an ordinary printer, not a note-printing device. It was on March 11 this year that brothers Amit Walwani (27) and Sumit Walwani (28) had been booked by Hinjawadi cops for possessing and circulating counterfeit notes. A complaint in this regard had been filed on the same day by one Jyotiram Nagmode, alleging that Amit had given him a fake note. The Walwani brothers are vegetable and spice vendors who run their business and reside in Chakan. Their native place is Akola.
