COVID-19 Resources: September Update
In this issue of The Express, we highlight new resources and upcoming webinars. As our stakeholders in the west continue to battle wildfires (and in observance of National Preparedness Month), we would like to highlight Issue 10 of The Exchange (which focused on wildfires and planned power outages) and our Natural Disasters and Utility Failures Topic Collections. New: Critical Care Load-Balancing Template
The Healthcare Resilience Working Group just added two resources that can help jurisdictions manage COVID-19 patient surge: the Critical Care Load-Balancing Operational Template and Considerations for Assessing Regional Patient Load-Balancing Effects during COVID-19.
New: COVID-19 Considerations for Long-Term Care Facilities
This toolkit is a compilation of considerations for long-term care facilities based on lessons learned during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic accompanied by resources to inform planning and response efforts.
New: Behavioral Health Compendium
This interagency product, compiled by ASPR's Behavioral Health Team and the Division of Recovery, was designed to help regional emergency coordinators and federal and state planners support stakeholders in various areas of COVID-19 response and recovery. It features sections on steady state programs, grants, impacted HHS programs, online resources and training, waivers and flexibilities, and data sources all of which include behavioral health components.

Hidden Consequences: How the COVID Pandemic is Impacting Children

ASPR TRACIE and ASPR’s Pediatric Centers of Excellence are collaborating on a webinar series focused on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on children. Topics will include:

New: Maintaining Healthcare Safety during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Brief Presentations
As a follow up to the ASPR TRACIE webinar Ensuring Healthcare Safety throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, we partnered with the COVID-19 Healthcare Resilience Working Group and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality on a series of short presentations featuring healthcare professionals sharing their experiences as they worked through the operational realities of maintaining and prioritizing healthcare safety during COVID-19. September is Sepsis Awareness Month

Learn more about Solving Sepsis, a program of the Division of Research, Innovation and Ventures (DRIVe) within ASPR’s Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).

 

COVID-19 Clinical Rounds Peer-to-Peer Virtual Communities of Practice are a collaborative effort between ASPR, the National Emerging Special Pathogen Training and Education Center (NETEC), and Project Echo. These interactive virtual learning sessions aim to create a peer-to-peer learning network where clinicians from the U.S. and abroad who have experience treating patients with COVID-19 share their challenges and successes; a generous amount of time for participant Q & A is also provided. These webinar topics are covered every week:

  • EMS: Patient Care and Operations (Mondays, 12:00-1:00 PM ET)
  • Critical Care: Lifesaving Treatment and Clinical Operations (Tuesdays, 12:00-1:00 PM ET)
  • Emergency Department: Patient Care and Clinical Operations (Thursdays, 12:00-1:00 PM ET)
