| Because of their extensive geographic coverage, strong community ties, and potential to reach medically underserved areas, health clinics play a key stakeholder role in emergency and disaster preparedness and response. ASPR TRACIE conducted an exploratory study to learn more about the scope and level of implementation of emergency management activities among health clinics. Medical Surge and the Role of Health Clinics (Questions and Answers for Clinics and Stakeholders) presents key questions that health clinics and their response partners may have and identifies action steps and available resources in response. | New! Hospital Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Planning Tool |
| Created by ASPR TRACIEs Senior Editor (in close collaboration with infectious disease specialists, manufacturers and distributors, and other subject matter experts and industry leaders), this tool can help hospitals estimate minimum PPE quantities needed to manage patients infected with special pathogens. The overview sheet of this customizable Excel file summarizes the purpose and considerations. Separate sheets exist for both the initial assessment and hospitalization of patients with Ebola virus disease and other viral hemorrhagic fevers, special respiratory infections (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome/Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), and pandemic influenza. Outputs may be used pre-incident when considering PPE cache levels at the hospital and healthcare coalition level and may also inform discussions with vendors about how to ensure supply chain continuity. |

| Recent and Upcoming Webinars |
The recording from the recent ASPR TRACE webinar Hospital-Based Incident Command Systems: Real Experiences and Practical Applications (held on November 14, 2018) is now available. This webinar features speakers providing an overview of hospital-based incident command and sharing lessons learned from activating their systems in response to recent incidents (e.g., Hurricane Sandy and the 2017 California wildfires). On January 29, from 1:00-2:00 PM (ET), public and private partners will share how to use ASPR's Healthcare and Public Health Risk Identification and Site Criticality (RISC) Toolkit, version 1.0. Learn more about this objective, data-driven, all-hazards risk assessment tool with the potential to inform emergency preparedness planning, risk management activities, and resource investments. After providing a brief description of the tool, speakers will discuss how they have implemented the RISC toolkit and share success stories and lessons learned.
