The initial instinct of many people in the performing arts is to create theatres and production spaces which are dark and disconnected from daylight. However, many areas in a performing arts building can benefit from daylight, including the performance space if carefully planned.

In October 2019, nine ASTC Members and six of their spouses traveled to Havana, Cuba to explore historic theatres and to understand local theatre and architectural practice in the broader cultural context of this historic city. This is a photographic slideshow of their experience.

Peter Scheu, ASTC was part of the contingent of Theatre Consultants who ventured to Havana in the fall of 2019. Here he reflects on his experience in Cuba – what he saw and learned.
ASTC is pleased to announce that at the “Online” Annual Business Meeting, Jack Hagler, Todd Hensley, and R. Duane Wilson were recognized and awarded the title of Fellow of American Society of Theatre Consultants (FASTC.)
Admitted into membership was Clemeth L. Abercrombie, Chicago Studio Principal of Charcoalblue, having successfully fulfilled the ASTC requirements. Two new Associates were also accepted, Jerad Schomer and Jon Sivell, both of Charcoalblue.

ASTC and USITT are pleased to announce the sixth collaborative project between university students and ASTC member theatre consultants. Projects will be presented at the USITT 2021 Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio – March 10-13, 2021.
