OCTOBER 2023 NEWSLETTER

Dear ASVC Families,

We hope you'll join us in celebrating our 2023 Awesome in Autism Awardees on October 19!

We all know an Autistic person who makes our world better with their passion, their extraordinary mind, and their resilience. We all know a caregiver or a teacher who loves with their whole heart, and gives 110% at work every day. We've all been touched by those who just "get it!" We are so grateful to the thousands of people in our community who are dedicated to accessibility and acceptance. We are celebrating a handful of these deserving shining stars at our awards!

When you leave our Awesome in Autism Awards, you feel inspired, happy, and ready to make an even bigger difference than before. You'll rethink how the world works. You'll believe a new world is possible. You'll witness so much love, and such beautiful perspectives. Congratulations to this year's 12 awardees; we are grateful for ALL you do and we can't wait to come together to celebrate you!

Press Release

At-risk dependents and families that may find this program helpful are those that may have a loved one with Autism, Alzheimer's, Dementia, Down Syndrome, mental illness, blind or low vision, and developmental or intellectual disabilities.

"Voluntary information provided to our team before a dire situation can expedite the search for a wandering individual by reducing the amount of information collection needed after an initial call for service," said Police Chief Darin Schindler. "The information also further assists officers by preparing them to appropriately contact and address that individual once they've been located. It's a win-win."

All information submitted will be secured on an internal server and used solely for police operations.

It is the responsibility of the family to keep the information about their loved one current. Updated personal information, changes to physical appearance, and shifts in diagnosis should be re-submitted.

For more information, please call Community Outreach Specialist, Emily Graves, at 805-339-4312, or email [email protected].
