The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors, at our regular December 17 meeting
, is hearing the appeal of the six Kensington AT&T cell node land use permit applications. The Planning Commission approved the permits for these six applications, and all have been appealed by Kensington residents to the Board of Supervisors. This is a public meeting, with the opportunity for comment from residents.
A number of public hearings, including on the Kensington cell nodes, are scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. They proceed in sequence. The Kensington appeals aren't the first on the schedule, however, I would recommend people interested in attending show up at 9:30.
There is also a pre-hearing meeting at 8:30 a.m. to review hearing procedures. Public comment won't be taken at this meeting, but there will be a chance to ask questions about the process.
The Board of Supervisors hearing is at 651 Pine Street, Martinez
, in the Board Chamber on the ground floor. The pre-hearing is in room 108
of the same building.
The County Planning Department has completed its staff reports (background) and recommendations for each of the six appeals. You can view these on this webpage
; scroll down to the proposed wireless cell sites Kensington. Please note that each report is large, so it takes a long time to upload on the page. The link is also on the KMAC page
on my website.
All of the public comment received by my office to date on this issue has been forwarded to County planners who collect input for their reports. I thank all of you who have provided input. Comment can still be sent to the project's principal planner, Francisco Avila by email
or phone, 925-674-7205.
