OUR RHYTHMS MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Thanks to the amazing support from our friends, funders, students and their families, we have had a tremendous year of activity and we look forward to a new one.

November 18, 2020

Dear friend,

We hope that this letter finds you in good health as we continue to maneuver through these challenging times.

It has been a confusing and difficult period of great uncertainty, but, I am very happy to say that the American Tap Dance Foundation has managed to survive and rise above these challenges. We are so thankful for the support we continue to receive, from the small donations that arrive almost daily, to the unbelievable annual support we receive from several family trusts, foundations, corporations and city, state and federal grants. This on-going support and trust in our organization has made it possible for us to stay afloat.

Today, we are pleased to announce that ATDF board member Nancy Kremsdorf and her husband Joel have offered to MATCH any donations generated from this letter up to $10,000.

In keeping true to our mission we continue to present high quality training programs, community events and productions that further educate and entertain an ever expanding audience.

Since March, we have managed to present numerous virtual concerts and events including:
  • a Copasetic Boat Ride, a Rhythm in Motion Concert & a Tap it Out presentation celebrated 20 years of Tap City, the New York City Tap Festival
  • a tribute to Mable Lee and screenings of past performances of a Salute to the Copasetics, Tap Divas and a two part presentation of performances by our very own Tap City Youth Ensemble over the last 15 years.
In September we were able to reopen the American Tap Dance Center and we are now offering limited programming that includes:
  • The ATDF Youth Training Program (both in-person & virtual classes)
  • The Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship Fund (we have already given out 27 training scholarships for the 2020-21 season)
  • The ATDF Adult Training Program (with daily virtual classes and occasional teacher training & composition workshops)
  • Our Artist in Residence Program (which is up and running again as our dancers begin to develop new work that we hope to present in the near future)
With all this activity we are so very grateful for the support, the responses, the encouragement and the assistance we receive from a large circle of friends, families, colleagues, partners and funders each day.

Our offerings, our legacy and our overall success is due to the enormous support that we continue to receive from friends like you!

So, we THANK YOU for giving!

And we also WISH YOU a Happy Thanksgiving,

Tony Waag
