Industry Groups Stepping Up to Fund Technician Education
With a looming technical workforce shortage, organizations are looking for ways to bolster the workforce pipeline. Establishment of scholarships and awards is a popular option, one that will directly benefit students.

While there are opportunities available year-long, many application deadlines occur in the spring. Below are a few opportunities available to future aviation technicians. For a full listing of organizations that offer scholarships, visit www.atec-amt.org/industry-opportunities.
Each year the Northrop Rice Foundation distributes scholarships and awards to aviation maintenance students and schools. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.
The ATEC James Rardon award recognizes outstanding achievement by a current aviation maintenance student. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.
The ATEC Ivan D. Livi award recognizes the outstanding achievement of an aviation maintenance technology instructor. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.
The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association funds students demonstrating a passion for the craft. The deadline to apply is Feb. 28.
The Professional Aviation Maintenance Association provides scholarships to current and recent students. The deadline to apply is March 15.
The Aerospace Maintenance Council recognizes student competitors at the Aerospace Maintenance Competition. The deadline to apply is March 15.
Annual Conference News
Current students and prospective employees are invited to the first annual ATEC Career Fair. The event is free, advance registration is required. Click the image above to download the event flyer for distribution to students.
The Employer Link is a unique event intended to connect employers with students, educators, and administrators from aviation technical programs from around the country. Employers may participate through sponsorship.
