The spring cohort will kick off in March in advance of the Annual Conference, the summer cohort will begin in June in Tulsa, and a third fall option will be announced soon! Advocate for Aviation: Join the 2025 ATEC Fly-in

In September, ATEC members will once again crisscross the nation's capital to meet with members of Congress on issues impacting aviation maintenance technician education. The event will include a roundtable discussion with FAA officials, briefings by congressional staff, and ATEC-facilitated meetings with elected lawmakers. LAST CALL: Nominate the Student and Educator of the Year

Each year ATEC partners with the Northrop Rice FoundationJSfirm.com, and Snap-on to recognize outstanding educators and promising aviation professionals as the James Reardon Aviation Maintenance Technician Student of the Year and the Ivan D. Livi Aviation Maintenance Educator of the Year. Nominations are due Jan. 15. Nominate now.

Showcase Your Students: The Competition @ VERTICON

The Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition is a staple at Aviation Week's MRO Americas, this year more than a third of competing teams represent A&P schools. While the event is sold out, schools can still register to compete at the inaugural Competition @ VERTICON taking place in Dallas on March 10-12. Read more.

ATEC Academy Celebrates Second Cohort of Graduates

Seven aviation maintenance educators recently completed the ATEC Academy’s intensive “Take Off” program, featuring hands-on training, virtual workshops, and mentorship. Participants gained teaching strategies and skills tailored for the classroom and hangar. With three cohorts planned for 2025, the Academy continues to shape the future of aviation education. FAA Tasks ACS Working Group with Military Test Development

In a significant move aimed at addressing the unique challenges faced by military aircraft maintenance technicians transitioning to civilian aviation roles, the FAA has assigned a new task to the ACS working group through the Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee. The group is tasked with recommending standards and testing requirements for a military mechanic competency test. Read more.

AMFA Scholarship Applications due Feb. 28

The AMFA National Executive Council is currently accepting student applications for three maintenance education scholarships. The $2000 awards are payable to each recipient’s institution of higher learning. Applications are due the end of February. Read more.

AAR CORP., Choose Aerospace, and ATEC have initiated a collaborative effort to donate surplus materials for educational purposes. The donated inventory includes fasteners, fittings, hardware, sheet metal stock, electrical connectors, and wiring – all aimed at directly providing industry-specific items to benefit schools’ education programs.
