In a series we are calling the EHS Meeting Mashup, we will bring you relevant topics of interest for meetings of approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Some of the Meeting Mashup topics will focus on the traditional EHS items, while others will look to collaborate the EHS world with other business and industry areas, such as Continual Improvement, Leadership and Management, and Industrial Maintenance.

These webinars are FREE to everyone, and the intent is to share information so that we all have an opportunity to go home safe at the end of each workday. Moreover, a lot of these topics can be relevant in the home as well, to keep you and your loved ones safe and healthy. We also hope our EHS Meeting Mashups will provide networking opportunities and promote constructive conversations that will help you build a safer culture in your workplace.

We already have several topics lined up for the next few months, starting with the March 10, 2022, topic focused on Confined Space Hazards and Mitigation. Food Safety
As the US still struggles with labor issues, public health concerns, and side effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, manufacturers are also struggling with their own challenges. The agricultural and food manufacturing industry is one where operators are challenged by already small margins with continuous rising costs. The struggle can be seen on empty grocery store shelves, shipping containers sitting idle on dockyards and on ships waiting to enter port, logistics companies struggling to find drivers for tractor trailer trucks, and even something as simple as a customer receiving a product in different packaging than advertised.

Many food manufacturing companies have had to reevaluate their supply chain program to compensate for no longer being able to source certain packaging, ingredients, or even equipment that is vital to their finished product. Where procuring certain materials that are internationally produced at one time maybe had significant savings over sourcing domestically, the tables have quickly turned due to rising production and transportation cost. Another contributor has been lead time adjustments to compensate for the vastly unknown shipping time. If you order packaging specifically for a season such as Christmas, you may be left out in the cold with no Christmas packaging at Christmas and a whole load of Christmas packaging that arrives in March and takes up valuable storage space.

ATN's affiliation to the MEP National Network allows us to offer benefits to the manufacturing industry that could assist in diversifying your supply chain program. The MEP National Network coordinates a Supplier Scouting Program that leverages the MEP's extensive relationship and knowledge of US manufacturer capabilities to source suppliers that meet your needs domestically. This program has led to connections made where hundreds of critical supply chain products are sourced domestically and tens of millions of supply chain production dollars are kept in the US.

This program is offered at NO COST to the manufacturing industry and does not require the manufacturer to have an existing relationship with ATN or the MEP National Network. If your food, beverage, or packaging company is interested in learning more about participation in this program, please reach out to us.
