From the President....
   

While there is quite a lot of news about projects in India in this issue, there is reason to believe many of these will not come to fruition. However, the growing interest in India and the rest of Asia (as well as the middle east) is, I believe, cause for optimism. The need for urban ATN is widespread and it is clearly one of the best solutions available. Sooner or later somebody will figure out how to pull everything together to make one of these large projects work. 

Once this happens it will be interesting to see what follows.

2getthere awarded transport system deal in Dubai

Dutch technology firm 
2getthere has been awarded a contract to deliver a new automated vehicle system in Dubai that will link Bluewaters with the city's network of metro stations.

The new transport system will have a capacity of 5,000 people per hour per direction, and will feature 25 driverless group rapid transit (GRT) vehicles capable of carrying 24 passengers each.

Dubai set to get major robot bus network

The company that created the futuristic driverless pods operating underneath Masdar City in Abu Dhabi has secured a contract for a much larger, driverless bus network connecting Bluewaters Island to Dubai's metro.

The joint venture 2getthere Middle East, between the Dutch automated transport firm 2getthere and the Abu Dhabi-based United Technical Services (UTS), is to deliver a 2.5km-long guided network from the Nakheel Harbour & Tower station over the new ramp on to Bluewaters Island. Read more...
