Professional Drivers Weigh In on Truck Parking Availability Systems
ATRI’s latest research documents how truck drivers currently use truck parking availability systems, and their perspectives on how truck parking information is distributed.

The research is based on a survey of more than 1,100 truck drivers, and cross-tabulates findings from all sectors, age groups, experience levels and gender. The research was identified as a top priority by ATRI's RAC in 2019 in recognition of the fact that the numerous truck parking information systems are being developed by public sector agencies that are often based on disparate technologies and information distribution channels. The RAC believed that the lack of national standardization may be creating confusion and distrust of these potentially invaluable systems. (Read More)
ATRI Board Approves Research Agenda for 2021
The ATRI Board has approved the 2021 Top Research Priorities as identified by ATRI’s Research Advisory Committee. ATRI’s RAC developed the list of recommended research topics at its meeting held in Atlanta May 4-5, and the ATRI Board reviewed and approved the list of recommended topics at its recent meeting.

ATRI's RAC selected research topics that examine workforce, infrastructure, legal, and operational issues, which align with multiple top concerns identified in ATRI’s annual Top Industry Issues Survey. Additionally, given the heightened attention on electric vehicles, two of the top priority studies will examine specific trucking impacts arising from increased deployment of electric trucks. ATRI Turns 20!
For 20 years now, ATRI has been producing award-winning research focused on the trucking industry’s safety and productivity. In honor of our birthday, we’re celebrating ATRI’s Board and RAC members, our staff, all those who participate in and support our research, and of course, our founding chairman Mike Wickham and his vision for a research organization laser-focused on the trucking industry’s top research needs.

On May 17th at ATA's Mid-Year Management Session, a reception and dinner celebration was held to honor ATRI's 20th Anniversary. As you can see from the event photos, it was a very special night recognizing everyone involved in ATRI's success, past and present. Check out ATRI's website to see photos from the celebration and learn how we’ll continue to celebrate ATRI's 20th throughout 2021.
For-Hire Motor Carrier Data Requested for Annual Operational Costs Research
ATRI has issued a call for motor carriers to participate in the annual update to its Operational Costs of Trucking report.

ATRI's annual Operational Costs of Trucking analysis is used as a key benchmarking tool by motor carriers of all sizes. Public sector agencies also utilize ATRI’s real-world data analysis to make better-informed transportation planning and infrastructure investment decisions. Most recently, ATRI’s Operational Costs of Trucking data was used to quantify impacts from the I-40 bridge closure in Memphis.

Among the for-hire fleet metrics being requested by ATRI are driver pay, fuel costs, insurance premiums and lease or purchase payments. Carriers and owner-operators are asked to provide full-year 2020 cost per mile and/or cost per hour data using the easy-to-use online data entry form.

For-hire motor carriers are encouraged to provide operational cost data to ATRI by Friday, August 20, 2021.
