Permit Opposition

Good afternoon,

I hope all is well. I am reaching out to you today with an urgent request regarding the recent submission of the Mining Operations and Reclamation Plan for the La Jara Mesa Uranium mine to the State of New Mexico and federal entities for review. La Jara Mesa Uranium mine is in close proximity to Mt. Taylor in Cibola County. 

We are urging community members, partner organizations, tribal leaders, and environmental advocates to submit letters to the New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department opposing this project and requesting an in-person public hearing regarding this mining permit application. 

Attached to this email are 2 PDF files, one is an information toolkit containing details relevant to this proposed mine and the other is a letter template for folks to reference or copy and paste when writing their own letters opposing this project. The deadline for letter submissions is Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
