For centuries, people believed the fabulous 200-ct. gems adorning the shrine of the Three Holy Kings in Germany’s Cologne Cathedral were emeralds. They are, in fact, peridots.

After attempting to clean her Tiffany sterling silver bracelet and earring set with a harsh cleanser, not suitable for this purpose, this client experienced extreme corrosion of her jewelry, with the original high polished shine completely destroyed. Diamonds On The Key was able to restore the pieces to their original state with a deep cleaning process to remove the corrosion and re-plating of the sterling finish, to bring it back to life. Good as new!

When a client dropped of several pieces of heirloom jewelry, which had previously belonged to her mother, the makeover process began and a significant size old European round brilliant cut diamond was discovered mounted in an odd looking butterfly brooch. The diamond was carefully unset, weighed, measured and evaluated for color and clarity. A pair of yellow gold, pearl and diamond earrings was also included in the group of jewelry items for review, which the client did not like, as she was not a fan of pearls nor of yellow gold. By removing one of the pearls from the center of the earrings, it was confirmed that the round diamond measured perfectly in diameter to the now empty space in the earring and the quest began to find a match to this diamond - not an easy task due to the age and particular old cutting techniques. After 4 months, a second antique diamond match was found! The newly matched pair of diamonds were bezel set into the earrings for a more modern feel, with the entire earring receiving rhodium plating, to turn the old yellow gold color into crisp white, which put all emphasis on the sparkling diamonds. The visual translation and impact of these new earrings was spectacular and the client was beyond thrilled with the transformation!
