We could not have asked for a more perfect pairing of Chefs, Foodies, and Culinary delights as we prepare for this years'  9th Annual So-Cal Chef Open coming to Pechanga's Grand Ballroom on Monday October 24th following a day of Golf at our 14th Annual Golf Classic Presented by Lexus of Riverside to benefit our CIF & Recreation Sports Programs. We are so excited to announce  our partnership with US FOODS, Temecula Valley Wine Management, The Arts Institute, and Dining Out San Diego as we prepare for Chefs to compete for this year's Pinnacle Award to be judged by such renowned judges as Master  Chef Ferdinand Metz, Chef William Ramsay, Inn at Europa Village Chef Dean Thomas, Universal Studios' Sous Chef William Bauer and more!! WOW Summer Mentor Programs
CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES!
Summer fun with the incredible women of W.O.W. -  Women Organizing Women, Inc. !! Our ladies have been looking forward to this for months - an opportunity to study the arts with W.O.W. t hrough the Summer Mentor Program. Our girls are jbeing mentored in the Art of Dance, Spoken Word, Voice, Culinary, and Creative Writing all in preparation for Showcases on August 8th in our gymnasium, and 15th at The Empowerment Center...One of this year's highlights was a very special SNEAK PEAK at the B-E-A-U-Tiful new Heart of the House Restaurant and Lounge in the Tower Plaza - Temecula - with Chef RIchard and Monica Bustos! WOW can't even begin to describe how awesome this new restaurant is!! Our girls knew how special it was to learn from Chef and create a delicious fajita meal in the brand new kitchen...most of them asking Chef how they could intern there, so of course we are looking into an extension of our Vocational Program with them!

PERFORMANCE TEAM KNOCKS 'EM OUT WITH NATIONAL ANTHEM
We were so proud of our Ensemble and the Amazing Stacey Dove as she directed them in singing The National Anthem at the Agua Caliente Casino last Saturday at Battle of the Badges. What a sound, sight and experience!! A highlight was our young man who as he is learning English as a second language diligently worked to understand what words like rampart even meant.We salute you all and salute our Country!!

Quiet on the Set - Our Young Storytellers Camp is rolling...all over campus!!! Made possible by a grant from Edison International, our aspiring actors, directors, screen writers and filmmakers are learning every aspect of the business from award winning filmmaker Curtis Baxter with cinematographer Tyler Padgett. The week wrapped with the teams pitching their movies to a guest panel and presenting their trailers to be chosen for premiering at the Summer Performing Arts Showcase - 10am on Thursday August 4th! We are looking forward to sharing a number of showcases with you - please make plans to attend!!

Through hard work and perseverance we teach our youth that dreams do come true! We are so proud of the growth one of our young ladies has achieved, and so very grateful to the ladies of H.O.P.E. - and member  Christina Grina from D & G Architects for making her dream come to life through a very special Dorm Room Makeover! You can see the joy in her eyes as she takes in her amazing new room that rivals them all!

MENTORING MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Ever desire to DIRECTLY ENCOURAGE A CHILD at Oak Grove? We invite you to become a mentor, and join us in the Library at our Murrieta campus the 3rd Thursday of every month for MISTT - Most Improved Tales of Transformation...We love hearing a Tale of Transformation presented by staff members who nominate students who have shown significant improvement. 
We invite you to the next MISTT Awards on  Aug 18h  at  1:15p  in the library.  Mark your calendar!  
It is the support of those who volunteer to be a MISTT Mentor by providing special encouragement with a phone call, postcard, and words of success over the course of a month who truly make a difference in their lives...enjoy this video of a beautiful transformation! -Click here or on video link above.
RUNNING CLUB READY FOR 1/2 MARATHON!

  We are so proud of our youth who are determined to run in their first 1/2 Marathon Saturday 9/24 in Fallbrook for the 3rd Annual  Avocado Half Marathon and 5K  - one of Southern California's and San Diego County's newest and most scenic races. Our students are training hard, and look forward to pushing themselves - please join us! Come cheer them on, or join us on the course!

OUR LIBRARY GROWS!
THANK YOU 3RD DISTRICT SUPERVISOR!
Our library is growing in leaps and bounds thanks to a grant from the Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor Community Improvement Designation Fund which allowed Oak Grove to purchase a plethora of books that will give our kids enriched educational opportunities, and allow them to explore the world through the wonder of literature without leaving campus!
