Canadian Brownfield Network (CBN) is conducting a national brownfield survey project via Ryerson University. The outcome of the project hopes to provide a comprehensive snapshot of what is happening in Canada at multiple levels of government, the private sector, and at the community level. The web-based survey takes around 30 minutes to complete.
ALSA (The Alberta Land Stewardship Act) has conservation and stewardship tools that could be of use to municipalities, but a lack of clarity exists for how these tools would work for municipalities. To respond to this issue, the Miistakis Institute organized a series of webinars on the four conservation and stewardship tools that are included in the Alberta Land Stewardship Act.
All municipalities are required to update their assessment notices, tax notices and tax rate bylaw to comply with changes to the MGA. This article includes a summary of the new requirements, which became effective January 1, 2018.
