The starting principle in ownership of land is that an owner holds the land from the centre of earth to the heavens above. The modern context modifies the expectations of owners and, as a result, the law. The air above a parcel of the land, while owned by the owner of the land below, is of limited practical use to that owner. For instance, an airplane flying overhead does not impact upon the use of your home or backyard.
