ADVOCACY UPDATES

As we mentioned last week, AUMA staff have been working hard compiling a Key Minister Background and Messaging document to support our members during next week's AUMA annual convention.

Efforts are underway to streamline existing processes deemed as barriers by municipalities in the past. In addition, as a result of AUMA’s advocacy efforts, AEP committed to processing all outstanding remediation certificate applications.

Did you know there are grants for recycling infrastructure? The Community Champions Program (CCP) is a grant program that is specially designed for non-profit organizations and municipalities in Alberta.
The Miistakis Institute has an eco-roof initiative underway, including the development of an eco-roof guide for Alberta municipalities. Eco-roofs provide a variety of public benefits related to improvements in air quality.

AUMA is seeking nominations of qualified candidates to serve on its Board of Directors. Apply by end of day today, September 19.

FCM has released its full election platform—a call to action to all federal parties to build better lives by empowering local leaders by:

  • renewing core infrastructure through a permanent doubling of the Gas Tax Fund transfer

  • championing rural and northern communities by modernizing programs and funding tools to recognize local realities and expertise.
