On January 25, AUMA is hosting a webinar on the regulatory transformation Alberta Environment and Parks is undertaking to improve its regulatory assurance system and meet red tape reduction platform commitments.
This training is targeted at returning officers and other administrators involved in elections. The modules will follow the Local Authorities Election Act, and resources and information that coincide with the stages of the election cycle will accompany each module.
In challenging economic times, municipal councils may receive requests from property or business owners for the cancellation, reduction, refund or deferral of taxes.
GOOD TO KNOW
Alberta Environment and Parks announced a new Code of Practice for Wetland Replacement Works. The Code of Practice applies to wetland construction and restoration. Wetland restoration means replacing wetlands that have been wholly or partially lost. Wetland construction involves creating a wetland at a location that was previously non-wetland. Any other activities will still require Water Act approval. For more details, please visit the Code of Practice for Wetland Replacement Works.
Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) released a new guide to Water Act Authorization Required for Excavations (dugouts, borrow pits, and other types of pits and excavations). The new guide includes regulatory amendments and aligns with the regulatory assurance framework introduced by AEP.
