For the past several weeks, I have heard a lot of chatter about municipalities considering boycotting the FCM conference taking place in Quebec, including the City of Medicine Hat, who recently announced their decision not to attend.

 During the MUNIX Annual General Meeting, AUMA’s CEO Dan Rude announced that there was a $1.5 million rebate to the MUNIX pool that took place in the form of a reduction in insurance premiums for 2019.  READ MORE

Funding now available through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) to hire a dedicated municipal energy manager through the Municipal Energy Manager Program.

Register for the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities Program webinar on May 9 at 1:30 p.m. to learn more about funding to purchase electric vehicles and charging stations.

Register for the Alberta Municipal Solar Program webinar on May 15 at 1:30 p.m . to learn more about funding for installing micro-generation solar PV systems on existing municipally owned facilities and/or lands. There is a first-time applicant bonus rebate available to those municipalities who have not participated in the program before.

Register for the Municipal Energy Manager Program webinar on May 24 at 1:30 p.m. to learn more about funding for a portion of a dedicated Municipal Energy Managers salary. Small municipalities are encouraged to partner with one or more neighbouring municipalities to share a staff member across their region.
