Many AURP members serve as anchor institutions in or near federal
Opportunity Zones (OZ), which provide tax incentives for investment in real estate and operating businesses. Most commentators believe
new regulations issued last month will spur more investment to OZs with anchor institutions. Stay tuned to AURP OZ programming in 2020!

BUILD THE BIO HEALTH CAUCUS
In 2020, AURP will continue to support bio health innovation communities at university hospital and independent health science centers. The world’s largest tech transfer meeting, AUTM, will
take place in San Diego, March 8-12, where AURP will help lay the groundwork for the BIO Health Caucus taking place in San Diego, June 7-8, at the
BIO International Convention (June 8-11). AURP will showcased in the BIO exhibition hall – and we hope to see you there!

ADVOCATE FOR PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR RESEARCH & TECHNOLOGY

INCREASE CORPORATE-UNIVERSITY-COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
In 2019, AURP helped produce a research park workshop at Ohio State University and a session on research parks in non-metro areas as part of
UIDP conferences, and we are members of
NACRO, the Network of Academic Corporate Relationship Officers. We plan to support more university – corporate connections as underpinnings of robust research parks and innovation districts.

INNOVATION ELEVATED
AURP will be present at
Silicon Slopes in Salt Lake City in January 31, in preparation for the
AURP International Conference on November 3-6:
INNOVATION ELEVATED. The Silicon Slopes organization is one of the largest and most prominent annual tech events in the world, bringing out more than 20,000 attendees. If you're attending, let's connect in Utah!

CONNECT GLOBALLY
More than ever, the need for international cooperation in research and technology is paramount. Through our international partnering organizations, including
Fraunhofer University
,
Industry Innovation Network
(UIIN), and others, AURP will host international delegations and support international research partnerships. Watch for more information on our Egyptian Ministry of Education in Egypt delegation, expected to meet with AURP membership while in the US in 2020.

’s student entrepreneurship program, RISE29, was honored for its co-curricular innovation at the
USASBE
annual conference.
RISE29 received the association’s Excellence in Co-Curricular Innovation Award, presented annually to the college or university whose entrepreneurship program encourages creativity, quality and sustainability, and produces an impact on the communities it serves.
In its first year, RISE29 earned top honors over a field that included the country’s No. 1 ranked entrepreneurship program by U.S. News & World Report.
