AURP: "Jeff, what are you and your team working on now at the UCRP MSU Research Foundation?"


Jeff: "The MSU Research Foundation focuses on venture creation, acceleration, and expansion, as well as real estate and corporate innovation strategies. We have several spaces and places designed to encourage innovation and collisions among startups, researchers, corporations, and the community. We are currently working on the EDA Tech Hub application utilizing these resources and connections to expand the innovation district activity here in Michigan."

SCHOLARSHIP Opportunities for IC23 and Beyond

AURP's Regional Partnership Development Program aims to support our members in developing strong partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSI). 
Via this program, AURP will make scholarships available to applying members to bring potential HBCU and MSI partners to AURP events and meetings, including the AURP 2023 International Conference (Oct. 16-19) at the University of Delaware STAR CampusLearn more.
Resources & Announcements

The U.S. EDA is accepting applications for its $50 million Build to Scale (B2S) program to support projects that strengthen equitable ecosystems and increase access to capital for innovators, entrepreneurs and startups. The program builds regional economies by supporting scalable startup ecosystems through entrepreneurial support organizations, plus helps communities and regions grow technology-driven businesses; create high-skill, high-wage jobs; and build the industries of the future. The University Financing Foundation, Inc. (TUFF) has launched an Innovation Center at Georgia Tech's Tech Square to serve as a home for programming and events that advance entrepreneurial initiatives, innovation ecosystem development and university-industry partnerships. The 6,400 square foot Center includes a primary event room, accommodating up to 50 people. Read more.

The Keystone Space Collaborative plans to build a Space and Defense Innovation District on an eight-acre site on Pittsburgh’s North Side. The district will be located on land now used as parking lots and owned by the Carnegie Science Center, just blocks away from the headquarters of Astrobotic Technology Inc., a company that two years ago received a $200 million contract to send the first U.S. rover to the Moon. The University of Houston (UH) is working to expand its impact on teaching and research by launching an Innovation Hub in the center of campus, becoming the city’s epicenter for a thriving innovation ecosystem. UH's new 70,000 square-foot complex will open in Fall 2025, and will include a makerspace, the Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship, the Energy Transition Institute and innovation programs. Aaron Warner, CEO and founder of ProCircular, a cyber security and compliance firm headquartered at the University of Iowa Research Park, has won “Iowa’s 2023 SBA Small Business Person of the Year” award. Warner has led the company's continued growth over the last seven years at a rate of 60% year-over-year (not including 2020 due to the pandemic). Read more.

Port San Antonio, a 1,900-acre technology innovation campus, will be home to major work to upgrade the U.S. Air Force's B-52 fleet. Boeing has received the first of two B-52s that will undergo upgrades to their radar technology at the company’s Port San Antonio facility, part of a $376 million contract with the U.S. Air Force to modernize the long-range bomber’s capabilities. Western & Southern Financial Group is the newest Fortune 500® company to join the University of Cincinnati’s 1819 Innovation Hub, the nerve center of the Cincinnati Innovation District (CID). In 2020, Western & Southern joined Cintrifuse and JobsOhio, along with 1819 partner Fifth Third Bank, to launch FinTech Frontier, a Cincinnati-based collaboration to drive innovation in financial services. The CID's mission is to accelerate the growth of talent, research, innovation and entrepreneurship across the Cincinnati region. Read more.

OKCID has announced the release of the Request for Proposal for legal services. The OKCID is the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that will be managing all operations and programming of Innovation Hall, a MAPS 4 project. OKCID is seeking proposals from highly qualified, capable firms to provide legal services in accordance with the 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance. The selected firm will have knowledge and experience with the 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance, as well as experience with OK state and local government structures and laws.
