Member Spotlight: Tech Parks Arizona is 25!
Hard to believe but it's true! Tech Parks Arizona is celebrating its 25th anniversary!

The University of Arizona (UA), in 1994, took "the bold step of acquiring an industrial park from IBM and transforming it into a university research park to help commercialize UA-developed technologies," according to Tech Parks AZ.

At its launch, the Park was home to two companies comprising roughly 800 employees. Fast forward 25 years and now Tech Parks AZ hosts more than 40 technology-focused companies and business organizations with 6,000 employees. In addition, Tech Parks Arizona and its companies "contribute nearly $2 billion to the local economy and is one of the region’s largest employment centers."

We were certainly delighted to honor Tech Parks AZ, in 2001, as the top university research park in North America.

Congratulations and happy anniversary from all of us at AURP!

And our special congratulations to Carol Stewart (Associate Vice President, Tech Parks Arizona, plus former AURP CEO and former Board Member) and Ken Marcus (Chief Financial Operating Officer, Tech Parks Arizona, and current AURP Board Member and AURP Treasurer).

GA Governor Proclaims October as Intellectual Property Month
The Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance (GIPA) recently announced GA Governor Brian Kemp has issued a state proclamation naming October 2019 as "Intellectual Property Month."

GIPA, which formed as a non-profit in October 2018, works to establish a better model for creating, protecting and enabling intellectual property (IP).

GIPA serves as an umbrella organization for an ecosystem of partners, bringing together a coalition of GA educational institutions, innovation-focused organizations and companies (ranging from Fortune 500 firms to fast-growing startups) to collaborate on this endeavor.

The governor's proclamation recognizes GIPA and the critical importance of IP to the growth of GA's innovation economy. Learn more.
