Member News: Sterling Bay's Stephanie Smothers Wins "Women in Real Estate" Award
In November, Connect Media named Stephanie Smothers, NCIDQ IIDA, Senior Interior Designer with Sterling Bay, as one of 20 winners in its 2020 Women in Real Estate Awards.

Smothers, who joined Sterling Bay in 2017, has brought her skills to projects in Chicago’s West Loop (333 N. Green and 600 W. Chicago) and in Miami’s burgeoning Wynwood neighborhood.

Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others. Read more.

Member News: Jane Shaab Named One
of 2020 “Maryland’s Top 100 Women”
Jane Shaab, Senior Vice President with the University of Maryland (UMB) Health Sciences Research Park Corporation (RPC), and Associate Vice President for Economic Development with the
University of Maryland, Baltimore, was named one of 2020 “Maryland’s Top 100 Women” by The Maryland Daily Record.

The Daily Record began Maryland’s Top 100 Women in 1996 to recognize outstanding achievements by women demonstrated through professional accomplishments, community leadership and mentoring. A panel of business professionals and previous Maryland’s Top 100 Women honorees from throughout the state selected this year’s honorees. Read more.
Member News: Sally Morton Named Executive VP of ASU's Knowledge Enterprise
Sally Morton will become the first woman to lead Arizona State University’s Knowledge Enterprise, an organization with annual research expenditures of $640 million covering space exploration to food systems.

As executive vice president, Sally, who succeeds Sethuraman "Panch" Panchanathan who is now director of the National Science Foundation, will be responsible for enhancing ASU’s research competitiveness, strengthening and diversifying the university’s research portfolio, forging strategic partnerships with public and private-sector industries, helping launch new companies and developing international ties. Industry News: APLU to Host "Broadband’s Role in Rural Economic Development," Jan. 27
The APLU Office of Economic Development & Community Engagement is hosting a virtual conference on "Broadband’s Role in Rural Economic Development: Exploring the Intersection between Community and Agricultural Broadband Needs," Wed., Jan. 27, 2:00pm ET.

The conference, supported by a grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), welcomes researchers and extension professionals interested in contributing to a research and extension agenda in the areas of broadband and agriculture.

The conference aims to address "how the demand for broadband among farmers might complement the provision of broadband to rural communities — sparking a virtuous cycle of higher agricultural productivity, increased adoption among consumers and other rural industries, leading to greater rural prosperity."
