NIST Releases Findings
In late April, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announced  the release of a  Final Green Paper  from its  Return on Investment Initiative for Unleashing American Innovation . The ROI Initiative is designed to advance the  Lab-to-Market Cross Agency Priority (CAP) Goal  of the  President’s Management Agenda (PMA) . This national goal aims to dramatically increase returns from the more than $150 billion per year of U.S. federal investment in research and development (R&D).
An Attitude for Gratitude
On April 18, 2019, Timothy J. Regan , President and CEO of the Whiting-Turner (WT) Contracting Company gave a lecture at A. James Clark Hall at UMD campus on Endless Opportunities: Thoughts on Growing A Career Ruled by “Paying Forward’ . The lecture took place just a few steps from the AURP Washington DC area office in the UMD Discovery District.

Regan is a UMD alum and WT, a major supporter of AURP. Speaking before a packed forum, he commented on the need to be persistent, flexible and grateful in a career. Regan helped WT become a major force in building biotechnology facilities.

WT constructed the new Iribe Center for Computer Science and Innovation on the UMD campus that will open this month and if you were at the 2018 AURP International Conference at the UMD you will recall walking by this amazing $156M structure.

Congrats to Tim Regan for your mentorship and advice to budding engineers.
