AURP is proud to announce the appointment of
Brian Darmody
, Associate Vice President of Corporate Engagement at the University of Maryland (UMD), as its new CEO. Brian, in his role as the Vice-Chair of the AURP Government Relations Committee, is a frequent speaker on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC covering topics that include research, entrepreneurship, federal opportunity zones (OZ), and a variety of government initiatives regarding technology and innovation. He plans to expand outreach to state governments, research universities, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), community colleges, federal labs, corporations and communities to increase interest and build research parks and innovation districts.
Additionally, we’d like to announce our new
‘AURP HQ2'
offices at
the
UMD Discovery District in the Washington, DC area. Brian will take up his new role at the new DC-area office, which is located in a federal opportunity zone.
These new offices will help to
promote the growth of international delegations exploring research parks and universities in North America, as well as to help research park tenants who wish to develop a global presence. Members will be able to use the office space when visiting the DC-area, visit embassies, Congress, federal agencies or trade associations.
