Rosalind Franklin University Receives Funding to Build Innovation and Research Park
Rosalind Franklin University (RFU) of Medicine and Science received $2.5 million in expendable funding through federal new markets tax credits to support the development of its  Innovation and Research Park . The new park will create an estimated 500 jobs (direct and indirect opportunities), as well as a total economic regional impact of $117 million per year . The new park will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, meeting and office space designed for collaboration among academic and industry scientists with the goal of accelerating the university's research into treatment and prevention of chronic diseases, including Alzheimer's, cancer and diabetes.

Partnering with RFU as the developer is The University Financing Foundation (TUFF) and is projecting a Summer 2019 completion.

"Leveraging diverse capital sources is one of the many ways TUFF brings value to our university partners," said TUFF President and Past AURP President Kevin Byrne . "Rosalind Franklin University's receipt of new markets tax credits is an important achievement.
