SHAPING THE FUTURE OF INNOVATION & RESEARCH PARKS IN UGANDA

AURP contributed to Uganda’s Science & Technology & Innovation strategy earlier this month from Oct. 6-14. AURP CEO Carol Stewart visited and toured the current innovation ecosystem of private and university incubators. Stewart facilitated and delivered a two-day program for university, ministry and eco-system intermediaries on the power of parks as a future focus of the national strategy. AURP looks forward to continued work with our friends in Uganda.

AURP was invited to participate in the 22 ^nd Annual Asia Science Park Association (ASPA) Conference that was held in Vladivostok, Russia October 3 – 5. I-Hung Li represented AURP at the conference. A special thanks to the Skolkovo Foundation for the invitation to participate!

Torc Robotics, in partnership with the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (VTCRC), is engineering the future of self-driving cars according to this article in Site Selection Magazine .

" We spun out of Virginia Tech ," says Torc Robotics CEO and Co-founder Michael Fleming. " We started operations in 2006 with the DARPA Urban Challenge with Virginia Tech. We have had a 10-year relationship doing R&D with the university. Having 30,000 students in our backyard is an advantage. The relatively low cost of living and the fact that the state of Virginia does not overregulate self-driving technology are big advantages for the work we do. Plus, we have the mountains, rural roads, fog, rain and snow — all the elements needed to fully validate self-driving technology. "
