Dear AVA Families,

It’s hard to believe, but we are officially in the home stretch of the school year. By the time you read this, we’ll have just four weeks left. While summer is within reach, this is one of the most important times of the year for our students.

At this point in the year, it’s natural for energy to shift. The weather is nicer, routines feel a little looser, and the countdown to summer begins. But in many ways, these final weeks are where some of the most meaningful growth happens.

We often talk to students about the importance of “finishing strong.” Not because everything hinges on these last few weeks, but because finishing strong is a habit—one that carries into high school, college, careers, and life.

Finishing strong looks like:

  • Continuing to put forth effort, even when it’s tempting to coast
  • Staying focused in class and completing work with care
  • Showing kindness and respect to others
  • Taking pride in how the year ends, not just how it began

It’s a lot like the last stretch of a race. Anyone can start fast, but it takes character to stay steady and push through to the finish.

Now, let’s be honest—this time of year also brings some very real challenges:

  • Backpacks mysteriously become lighter (usually missing assignments)
  • Chromebooks suddenly have “technical difficulties”
  • And students develop a remarkable ability to ask, “Are we doing anything today?”

At school, our teachers are continuing to provide meaningful instruction and support, and we are asking students to stay engaged and give their best effort each day. At home, your encouragement goes a long way—simple reminders about staying focused, getting good rest, and finishing work can make a big difference.

Our goal is for every student to walk out on the last day of school feeling proud—not just of what they learned, but of how they carried themselves through the entire year.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let’s work together to help our students finish the year the right way—strong, focused, and ready for a well-earned summer break.

Our AVA Middle School students have 21 submissions in various types of art including 3-D. Here are a few of the submissions:

We’ve noticed an increase in items being dropped off after the school day has already begun. To minimize disruptions to instructional time, we will no longer be calling into classrooms for these deliveries, as this interrupts learning for all students.

Middle School Instructional Assistants will check the front office for dropped-off items three times per day and will deliver them to students during those scheduled times.

Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us maintain a focused learning environment.

General Announcements

The purpose of AVA's Uniform Policy is to promote school unity and pride, lessen peer pressure, and minimize the distractions and disruptions that ordinary clothing may attract.

To ensure compliance, all uniform items must be purchased from one of our approved vendors: Land’s End, French Toast, or Educational Outfitters.

Please note that it is the responsibility of families to follow the uniform guidelines. Students who are not in compliance—including those wearing items from non-approved vendors—may be subject to a uniform infraction.

Thank you for your cooperation in supporting a cohesive and respectful school community.

Who’s the Best?

It seems obvious that Aspen View Academy is. While we all know this is true, let’s make it official. It’s time to recognize metro Denver’s best by voting in Colorado Community Media’s 2026 Best of the Best contest, which gives readers a chance to weigh in on what they love most about their communities.

“Best of the Best gives our community bragging rights to say, `we’re the best,’” said Mindy Nelon, CCM marketing and community engagement specialist. “When we reach out to the winners and let them know they won, they are super excited. Best of the Best continues to grow year after year, which means our community loves it and that makes me proud to be involved.”

Contest voting is open and will continue through May 20th. Readers can vote on their favorites in many different categories, including automotive, beauty and wellness, community, entertainment and lifestyle, events, finance, fitness, food and beverage, home and garden, medical, pets and animals, professional, real estate, religion, retail, retirement, and travel.

“Best of the Best is 100% reader voted, therefore winners are truly the Best of the Best for the communities they serve,” said CCM Advertising Director Erin Addenbrooke. “For all winners, it is an honor to display the Best of the Best logo for the entire year showing each community they are the best at what they do.”

We hope you agree that Aspen View Academy is the best school in Castle Rock and that you are willing to take a couple minutes of your time to officially vote for AVA.

Counseling Corner- April

As we say hello to spring, the counseling department is wrapping up and saying goodbye to this school year's SEL lessons. For the final lesson we are keeping things light and reading the book: Serendipity to grades K-5. We discuss what serendipity means and ask for volunteers to share their serendipitous moments. Our hope is that our students learn to appreciate and cherish the small things in life just as much if not more than the bigger things. This topic is a great dinner conversation starter and a positive way to reflect on the small but memorable moments that happen in life.

Our final coping skill for the year is tense and release. Asking your student(s) to show you this skill is a great way to help reinforce this tool.

We are so grateful for the time we get to spend with your students and are looking forward to next year's lessons.

Happy Spring!
