Welcome Back, Aspen View Academy Families!

Happy New Year and welcome back to Aspen View Academy! I hope our students, families, and staff enjoyed a restful, joyful, and refreshing holiday break. Whether your time was filled with travel, traditions, quiet moments at home, or time with loved ones, I hope it gave everyone the opportunity to recharge and relax.

As we return this week, we are excited to begin the second half of the school year. This is always a meaningful time—one where we reflect on how far our students have come and look ahead to the continued growth, learning, and successes still to come. Our classrooms and hallways are once again filled with energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm, and it has been great welcoming students back to school.

The second half of the year brings new goals, deeper learning, and many opportunities for students to challenge themselves academically, socially, and personally. Our teachers and staff are ready to support students every step of the way, providing high expectations, encouragement, and a safe, caring environment where every child can thrive.

I also want to take a moment to thank our families for your continued partnership. Your support, communication, and involvement play a vital role in our students’ success, and we are grateful to work alongside you.

We are looking forward to an exciting and productive remainder of the school year filled with learning, growth, and celebration. Thank you for being part of the Aspen View Academy community—we’re so glad to be back  and ready for a strong finish to the year.

Counseling Corner- January

Welcome back everyone, it’s always nice to see our students back in the building again after a long break! January often represents a time when we reflect on the previous year and think about what we would like to do better in the year to come. With this in mind our January SEL topic for grades K-5 is going to focus on how to sincerely apologize to someone. This includes language used, tone of voice, and body language/facial expression.

For Kinder and 1st graders we will practice the language “I am sorry for ____, do you accept my apology?”

Grades 2-5 will get a bit more in depth. Students will be taught the four part apology:

  1. I am sorry
  2. That I ….
  3. Next time I will….
  4. Do you accept my apology?

Our coping skill for the month is the Butterfly Hug. We encourage you to ask your student(s) to teach you this technique and the parts of an apology. This reinforces the understanding and use of these skills.

Happy New Year!
