Spring is here! As spring arrives, I am nearing the completion of my first year as an AVA Board member. I have also had the opportunity to spend a few days in the school with the Watch Dogs program. This program has allowed me to see the joy and dedication from the staff and administration who genuinely enjoy what they do. This leads to the excitement and growth that we see in our students!
Tracy started off the year by explaining how the board partners with the staff and Jacob followed up with ways for parents to get more involved to help ensure AVAs mission: To help students succeed though academic excellence and provide a stimulating learning environment. Even though our children spend 7 hours a day learning, the work can’t stop there. We as parents need to continue promoting this mission at home. It is our duty as parents to help with homework, teach them to treat others with respect, to discipline when required and to encourage them to think critically. As a parent, I know this is a struggle sometimes after a long stressful day at work, but seeing our children grow up to be hardworking self-sufficient adults is the pinacol of success as a parent.
I feel that we all have God given gifts and that we are called to use these gifts. As I hope everyone is aware, two AVA board seats are opening this year. Throughout the last few years, we have seen how important and/or detrimental the people in leadership positions can be. The board believes in and works hard to ensure the AVA mission is achieved. A glaring example of this is that AVA students were in-person learning with their peers when so many other schools had students learning from home. If you feel like you have a desire to provide your time to ensure the needs and education excellence of AVA then you would be a good candidate for the Board of Directors. If you have questions or would like to know more about the board of directors, I encourage you to:
“Aspen View Academy will succeed through academic excellence in a challenging and stimulating learning environment that emphasizes math, technology and language arts, enabling our students to become critical thinkers, responsible citizens, strong community members and future leaders”
