A Message From The Principal
Building a healthy school culture is a complex task, but also one essential to success both academically and in life. It involves a careful balancing act of key ideas such as providing for safety, implementing appropriate consequences when needed, and teaching students the skills they need to be adults. As a school we accomplish this with rules and guidelines, but also with a focus on admirable character traits. We use R.E.S.P.E.C.T. to remind our students about the value of...
  • Responsibility
  • Empowerment
  • Sharing
  • Patience
  • Excellence
  • Compassion
  • Teamwork
These character traits are those of the well-rounded individuals that we are guiding our students to become, but they are not always easy. It is sometimes challenging to have compassion for someone who has been rude to you, work as part of a team with an individual you may not especially enjoy or be responsible enough to take ownership for mistakes. While these can be difficult, our wonderful young people are fortunate to have so many adults in their lives to care for them and set the example. When we as parents, teachers, and staff work together to reinforce these ideals we see remarkable growth and learning. Sometimes we reinforce our values through reminders, sometimes through consequences, and sometimes by acting them out ourselves. By constantly modeling our values, and enforcing boundaries around them, we are all creating the recipe for success.
As a friendly reminder, we are respectfully requesting all parents to please use an abundance of caution when determining whether or not to send your child to school. Please see this reference for details about WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME. Ultimately, you know your child the best. If your child is not feeling well, PLEASE keep them home.

If you have any outstanding fees from Aspen View Academy or any DCSD school for any school year soon you will receive an email requesting you pay all outstanding fees. You may log onto your My School Bucks account and pay these fees. If you believe there is a discrepancy in your balance or you are unable to pay in-full please contact Jen Webb to discuss or make payment arrangements. If your student is heading to high school they will have difficulty registering for classes if there are outstanding fees.

If these fees cause a financial burden to your family, we may be able to help. Apply for assistance here and if you qualify you will be sent a letter. Forward that letter to me in confidence and certain fees may be eligible to be waived. Unfortunately, tuition fees are not eligible.

8th Grade Continuation
Tuesday, May 25th

Dinner with 8th Grade Students and Invited Staff only at 5:30pm in Gym.
Ceremony with Invited Family at 6:30pm on AVA Sports Field.
8th Grade Parents - ACTION REQUIRED!
Congratulations on your student nearing the end of middle school! When your student continues on from Aspen View Academy this month, he/she has the option to take their school-issued laptop (BAK brand) with them at no charge to you. Since your child will no longer be a student at Aspen View, we would need the computers turned in to the IT Department on Monday, May 24th.  We will wipe them (remove all files and software) and restore them to factory settings.  Your student will then be able to take the computer home on Tuesday, May 25th.  The computer will be ready to set up as a new device.
We need your permission to send the computer home with your student on Tuesday, May 25th.  After Tuesday, the computers will stay at home and not come back to AVA.  We need ALL 8th grade parents (one per student) to complete this form by May 15th.
Please note that this device will not have any web filtering restrictions on it, nor will any of AVA’s restrictions apply.  The computer is no longer under warranty, so if you accept it, it will be your responsibility to dispose of it when you no longer want it.
As always, please don’t hesitate to contact Holly Landauer or Tech Support if you have any questions or concerns.
