Communication is critical to the success of our students and Aspen View Academy. Knowing who to reach out to or when to reach out may be somewhat confusing. First, please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have a question or concern about a classroom procedure, a concern about grading/homework, an issue that may have happened in the classroom or at recess, general questions you may have about what is going on in the class or grade level, and especially if you have a compliment for the teacher. After you have reached out to the teacher and the concern or question has not been resolved, please reach out to the appropriate assistant principal (PreK questions should be directed to Debi Stalker). Kristin Krieger is AVA’s elementary (K-5) assistant principal and Kevin O’Bryant is AVA’s middle school (6-8) assistant principal. Dave Bodiker is AVA’s assistant principal of Culture and Climate. If the matter is still not settled, please reach out to me. If you still have concerns after speaking with me, you can contact the AVA board president. Please know that if you reach out to administration with a classroom level question or concern, we will ask you to reach out to the classroom teacher first so you can receive the most accurate information and so they can understand that there may be a problem or issue. You can access AVA’s Communication Pathways which serves as a reference guide on who you should reach out to for a variety of matters. I like to use the saying; we don’t know what we don’t know. So, if something is puzzling you or you have concerns, please reach out to the appropriate person know so we can clarify things or help you.

Student ID's Each Student Gets One

Your elementary student should have gotten their picture taken during Meet and Greets and Your Middle School Student on one of the first two days of school. They later would have received their Student ID in class. If they did not receive their ID this is because they may not have gotten their picture taken yet this year. Students will receive their first ID for free. If they haven't had their picture taken yet they will still get the opportunity to get their picture taken on RETAKE Day on October 12th.

This year if we have to request a replacement ID your student will need to bring $5 cash or check to the front office AND complete this form. Replacement orders will be sent every other week to Studio 5. They can take up to 10 business days to get a replacement once they receive the order.

Early Pick Up Guidelines

If you need to pick up your student early because of an appointment right after school please plan to pick up your student by 3pm. The front office will NOT be able to call a student out after 3pm.

Aspen View Academy uses GoGuardian for web filtering of students. As a parent, you have access to the GoGuardian Parent app, which provides you with insight into your students' online activity when on school-owned devices.

The GoGuardian Parent app provides an overview of your children's online activity on school-managed devices and accounts - this overview includes the apps, extensions, documents, and websites your student visited.

What is included in this app:

  • Top 5 overview of your student's online activity
  • Any teacher interventions related to your student's online activity (5th-8th grade only)
  • 30-day overview of your student's online activity

To access the app, please follow the below instructions:

1. Download the app

       1.  Download via Apple Store

       2.  Download via Google Play Store

2. After the app is successfully downloaded and installed, open it up and enter the parent email address registered in Infinite Campus. Note: If you forgot your registered email address, please reach out to techsupport@aspenviewacademy.org

3. Login/Check Email: Check your email on your phone for a link to log in to the app. Tap the "Verify your email", and it will take you straight to the app. Note: If you don't have access to your email through the device you used to log in, tap on "Login with verification code", and copy and paste the verification code from the email into the app.

That's it! You will now be able to see and monitor your students' internet use on school devices.

Volunteer Corner

Welcome to another school year at Aspen View. We have a lot of volunteer opportunities so keep a look out for Sign-up Genius', Newsletter announcements and emails from the PTO. Below is an excerpt from the AVA Handbook.

VOLUNTEERING COMMITMENT – AVA believes that the success of each student will be a shared responsibility of students, teachers, parents, staff, and community leaders. Volunteers enhance the school and its culture and character through their involvement. Accordingly, a strong family involvement program will be implemented. AVA expects 30 volunteer hours per family per school year. Single-parent families are expected to volunteer 15 hours per school year. The volunteer school year shall coincide with AVA’s fiscal year, and hours shall accrue from July 1 through June 30. If your family has special circumstances that make it difficult for you to meet the expected volunteer hours, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator. Many volunteer opportunities exist within AVA’s PTO. The PTO is an organization comprised of parent volunteers for the purpose of providing community support, fundraising and planning various events within our school community.

Preregistration on the Raptor Volunteer site is required, this only needs to be completed one time.

To log volunteer hours, please visit the Volunteer Portal.

These volunteer opportunities can also be found on the volunteer page of our website.
