Dear AVA Families,
Hello and Happy September! We were extremely thankful to see so many of you at our Welcome Back Party last Friday. We hope that your family had an incredible time celebrating the beginning of the school year!
Our goal this year is to plan as many fun family events as possible, as a school community to continue to foster a sense of camaraderie at AVA. We are also laser-focused on making sure that the staff knows that they are appreciated. Each of these 120 individuals come to work everyday with the common goal of inspiring our kids. In these uncertain times we would like to encourage you to share your appreciation with all of the AVA staff. Small notes of encouragement, dropping off one of their favorites, or simply sending an email to check in on how they are doing. These are just a few of the simple gestures that we would love to see happen on a regular basis, here at AVA. Your support of our staff means the world to them. We'd love your support on our Gratitude Challenge!
If you have a great idea on how we can all show the staff how much we care, please let us know and we will pass the word to others. Let's take our appreciation to the next level - together! Thank you again for your continued partnership and support. We hope to see you all soon.
Kirsten, Natalie, Maaria, Jessica, Natalia, Trish, Tammy, Dee, Sarah, and Jaime

Teachers will discuss discipline procedures, classroom expectations, how to volunteer, curriculum, and how best to communicate with them. If you have children in more than one grade, please feel free to divide and conquer! Please also feel free to skip the large group informational session in favor of the classroom visits if the grade level times work out.

Middle School Engineering Needs Your Help!
Throughout the year, sixth and seventh grades will be designing different versions of water bottle rockets. Students will be adding fins, nose cones and possibly parachutes on to 2 liter bottles and then launching them outside to measure time in the air and how straight they fly from the launcher.
Per quarter, I will need approximately 34 clean, empty 2L bottles (Coke, and Dr Pepper brand bottles seem to work the best), which is a total of 136 bottles for the year. That's a LOT of bottles!
If your family is already drinking soda, would you please consider one weekend of drinking from a 2L and donating the clean, empty bottle to the Engineering class? There will be bins set out in the front entryway on Monday (9/6) and Tuesday (9/7) of next week so students can drop them off on their way in to school.
Thank you so much for supporting this new STEAM class at AVA.
- Mrs. Cooper"

Student ID's Each Student Gets One
Your elementary student should have gotten their picture taken during Meet and Greets and Your Middle School Student on one of the first two days of school. They later would have received their Student ID in class. If they did not receive their ID this is because they may not have gotten their picture taken yet this year. Students will receive their first ID for free. If they received a temporary ID they will still get the opportunity to get their picture taken on RETAKE Day on October 13th.
This year if we have to request a replacement ID your student account will be assessed a $5 fee for a lost ID. To request a replacement ID please complete this form. Replacement orders will be sent once per week to Studio 5. They can take up to 10 business days to get a replacement once they receive the order.

Welcome to another school year at Aspen View Academy. We have a lot of volunteer opportunities so keep a look out for Sign-up Genius', Newsletter announcements and emails from the PTO. Below is an excerpt from the AVA Handbook.
VOLUNTEERING COMMITMENT – AVA believes that the success of each student will be a shared responsibility of students, teachers, parents, staff, and community leaders. Volunteers enhance the school and its culture and character through their involvement. Accordingly, a strong family involvement program will be implemented. AVA expects 30 volunteer hours per family per school year. Single-parent families are expected to volunteer 15 hours per school year. The volunteer school year shall coincide with AVA’s fiscal year, and hours shall accrue from July 1 through June 30. If your family has special circumstances that make it difficult for you to meet the expected volunteer hours, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator. Many volunteer opportunities exist within AVA’s PTO. The PTO is an organization comprised of parent volunteers for the purpose of providing community support, fundraising and planning various events within our school community.
Pre-registration is required prior to volunteering. Please visit the Raptor Volunteer site, as this only needs to be completed one time. Once completed we will need you to bring your ID in to scan and link to your profile.
These volunteer opportunities can also be found on the volunteer page of our website.
